Here are some simple ways to practice:

  • Step 4: VISUME TOOLS
Pick the ideal tool for you readily available at your disposal, in your own homes and at Prevview.

    1. Video Camera/Video function in Camera

The great thing about video cameras and cameras is that you can do your own filming.
If you feel shy to have someone film your visume for you, then it's not an issue.
All you have to do is:

      1. Find a stable spot to place your camera
      2. Hit the record button and position yourself in frame.
(Trial and error method works best when you are alone)

You can even use a camera stand and adjust the height according to your needs. If you do get a friend to film it, make sure that the camera is held steadily and the film does not wind up not shaky. It is best if you use a stand, as you don't want to end up giving employers the feeling of sea sickness.

    2. Mobile Phone Camera (e.g.iPhone or any phone with a better quality camera)
Almost everyone has an iPhone, or some other smart phone that enables you to film videos. So why not make the best of it?

      1. Get a friend or family member to be your videographer for the day.
(Borrow their phones if you don't have your own).
      2. Get them to ensure that you are in frame, and you can do your thing! It's as easy as that.

Remember to ensure that your videographer has steady hands. The best way to make sure that the film is not shaky is to get the camera person to prop his/her elbow against a wall, table or tree even, depending on where your shooting location is.

    3. Web Camera
These days, almost all computers and laptops, come with inbuilt web cameras. With web cameras, you can film your visumes at the comfort of your own bedrooms.
Here's what you need to do:

      1. Position the web cameras at the angle you look best. The great thing about web cameras is that you can view what is happening in front of you, and you can easily adjust your settings/positioning. Remember to sit straight!
      2. Ensure that your background is appropriate enough for a visume and start filming. Know that you have free reign to create whatever backdrop you want. But, always remain professional. The last thing employers want is to catch an image of your bed or intimates hanging in the background!

With laptops, their portability is such a great plus. Just make sure your battery is fully charged, carry it anywhere you want and film your visume against the desired background.
